The Tipping Point discussion #1

After reading to the end of the section "The Law of the Few," you're aware of Gladwell's central point: that fads are like epidemics; their success can be explained by a set of rules or principles. For this discussion, recall your own experiences with one or more of the types Gladwell identifies: connectors, mavens, and salesmen. Briefly describe an incident with one of these types and the ideas or information with which they "infected" you. Refer to Gladwell's definitions of the type and/or process of transmission.

Comments:
Well, I guess I'll describe an experience with a connector, because it's the first one that came to my mind. So there is this guy named Steven, who's my Dad's girlfriend's daughter's boyfriend, who lives in Sacramento. And despite how it sounds I see him a lot.
He is "friends" with so many people, and he loves to meet up with his friends, and runs into tons of people he knows. Often the plans change because he wants to meet up with someone he knows. Basically he is a film guy who's job basically is knowing and socialilizing with a lot of people to get funds and what not.
He's "infected" me with a lot of ideas, like how to pursue basically any whim of a profession that I suggest -especially film professions- , by telling me all the people he knows who can help, and has actually gotten(not a great word) me connected to some people and helped me out. They say the key to any industry is connections... (i think)
